The Truth Behind the Scales: My Journey Writing "Scales of Time"

Dear Readers,

I'm thrilled to announce that my collaboration with AvA SiLicA, "Scales of Time," will be hitting the market worldwide on April 1st! This legal thriller has been a labor of love, obsession, and more late-night research sessions than I care to admit.

When Fiction Mirrors Reality

When I first approached AvA about collaborating on this project, I had a vision of a story that would peel back the veneer of our judicial systems to expose what might lie beneath. What if the machinery of justice—those institutions we trust to deliver impartial verdicts—were themselves subject to invisible influences? What if certain outcomes were predetermined, not by evidence or argument, but by a shadow network operating across generations?

While "Scales of Time" is fiction, the patterns it explores could well be grounded in troubling realities that deserve scrutiny.

A Tale of Two Voices

Working with AvA created a fascinating stylistic dynamic. Their background in technical documentation brought precision to our courtroom scenes and legal procedures, while my atmospheric tendencies shaped the psychological and emotional landscapes our characters navigate.

The result is a novel that operates on dual frequencies: the visible machinery of justice (rendered with technical accuracy) and the shadowy influences that operate beyond public view (explored through more impressionistic passages). This interplay reflects the central theme of our story—the tension between what we see in our institutions and what actually drives them.

Introducing Judge Malcolm  and Sara

Our protagonists, Judge Malcolm Thorpe and his daughter Sara, embody this tension. Malcolm, a seasoned judge whose faith in the system is being steadily eroded, and Sara, a brilliant defence attorney discovering that her mother's death might connect to something far larger than a simple hit-and-run. Their journey begins with a seemingly straightforward murder case but expands into an investigation that threatens the foundations of British justice.

Both characters were inspired by the real-world legal professionals who find themselves caught between institutional loyalty and their commitment to truth—individuals who risk everything when they begin asking uncomfortable questions.

The Sequel: American Connections

I'm also excited to reveal that I'm already deep into writing the sequel, which follows Sara to America as she discovers the Society's influence extends far beyond British shores. 

Final Thoughts

"Scales of Time" asks difficult questions about the institutions we trust to deliver justice. When the scales themselves are weighted, how can truth ever be measured fairly? What price are we willing to pay for that truth?

I hope this novel inspires conversations about transparency, institutional accountability, and the courage it takes to question systems from within. While the Society is fictional, the patterns of influence it represents deserve our vigilant attention.

The book results from my collaboration with an anonymous co-author whose life experiences established the basis of this surreal exploration of consciousness architecture.

This isn't a conventional novel. The narrative structure of the text takes on a labyrinthine design with:

- Reversed and inverted passages 

- The intentional use of typographical spacing alters how you read the text.

- The story employs hieroglyphic symbols alongside mathematical equations to serve as narrative devices.

- The novel features a non-linear narrative that folds back on itself in a looping structure.

The novel's structure reflects its theme where the house retains memories of you even when you've lost them.
